Aur-Miss Vixen is a daughter of Aur-Fix, considered by many to have been the most dazzling of all the Aurab sons. Aur-Fix seemed to radiate an electrified presence and had a high, straight, flag Arabian tail carriage; he was totally dazzling. A very high quality and beautiful horse, he also had a good trot. Aur-Miss Vixen has much her sire’s style and presence, and his good trot as well. She is a mare of true quality. Her lovely neck adds to her attractions.
Aur-Miss Vixen brings yet another source of Aurab blood to my breeding program, which is partly focused on using Aurab blood via as many different sources as possible, as long as the sources represent the quality and type for which I strive. Aur-Fix certainly met my criteria for such standards. I have always seriously wanted and hoped for his blood in my breeding program.
Aur-Miss Vixen was bred by Moonshadow Arabians in Idaho; this farm is owned by Dorothy “Bubbles” Kegler and her daughters, all of whom are longtime friends. When several years ago Bubbles bought Miss Arriba, dam of Aur-Miss Vixen, I was immediately taken with the mare. She had a distinctive and very beautiful style and carriage to her, and she strongly displayed her quality. It was hard to take my eyes off Miss Arriba, who was from the once well known and highly regarded Helen Wolf Taknen breeding program in Idaho. Bubbles bought Miss Arriba specifically to breed to Aur-Fix and I thought the foal would probably be splendid.
During a trip to Idaho in 1995, I saw Aur-Miss Vixen when she was a yearling. I liked her as much as I expected I would, and wished she were mine - but she was not for sale. Bubbles and her daughters were enjoying showing her successfully in halter in local shows, and planned to later use her in their own breeding program. I really never expected I would be lucky enough to get her some day, but then, in early 2007, Bubbles offered her to me. I quickly agreed to buy this then 12 year old mare.
With Aur-Miss Vixen from Idaho came two other well bred and good quality Moonshadow Arabians mares, both purchased by Missi Throne of Loomis, California. One of these is also an Aur-Fix daughter; she is Aur Fixation (x Ben A Dream, by Ben Rabba). The other Throne mare of this purchase is Aur Angel (Ben Jamil [he by Ben Rabba] x Ziadi-Shail [a daughter of Zadir]). Thus, there are now two breeding programs in central California with the valuable Aur-Fix blood.
