Fire Song CA is owned by Jewell Cantrell, Gridley, California, who had kindly allowed me to lease her for a 2012 foal.
I am a great fan of Jewell’s stallion Ohadi Indian Fire and saw Fire Song, a daughter of Ohadi Indian Fire, on a visit to the Cantrell ranch. Fire Song is very beautiful and correct, with a neck that is reminiscent of that of *Rissletta (dam of the great Abu Farwa); *Rissletta was widely admired for her beautiful neck.
Fire Song is the product of a Ben Rabba grandson going to a Ben Rabba daughter. This is a Ben Rabba linebreeding formula that has worked well for Cantrell Arabians, producing some truly outstanding horses. It also is linebreeding to Aurab, sire of Ben Rabba; Fire Song has 3 crosses to Aurab because Ohadi Indian Fire’s sire, Ohadi Ben Rabba, was a double grandson of Aurab - one of only two ever foaled (the other was my own brilliant stallion Night Dragon).
Detailed information, with pictures and pedigrees, about the two great stallions, Ben Rabba and his sire Aurab, can be found in the reference section of this web site.
Fire Song’s pedigree represents some of the best of the fine breeding program of the late Curtis Cox in Idaho. Jewell bought both parents of Fire Song at the 1991 dispersal sale held after the death of Mr. Cox.
While there are too many noteworthy horses in this pedigree to mention them all here, I want to particularly note that I am very pleased to see Shaboud in it; I saw him once at the Canadian Nationals one year in British Columbia, and he was unforgettably beautiful, as his linebreeding to the Abu Farwa son Ga’zi suggested he should have been. Curtis Cox had seen him too and went to considerable trouble and expense to take his wonderful mare Rad-Sor to be bred to Shaboud. Rad-Sor has been a favorite Arabian mare of mine ever since I helped haul her from California to Idaho many years ago; she was a big mare, very well made, with just the right amount of both substance and refinement. She was very impressive in appearance, but her personality made everyone fall in love with her. She was very gentle, cooperative, and always perfectly behaved. She was a mare I wished I owned - and now I will have her lines in my herd via Ohadi Indian Fire.
I am grateful to Jewell Cantrell for leasing me Fire Song CA . She is a mare of exceptional merit. For the duration of her lease, she will remain at the Cantrell Ranch where she may be seen.
