Night Fancy 475119

Chestnut Mare foaled March 5, 1991
Bred by Janice M Siders, Diablo, California
Summer 2009. Anne Blount photo.

Night Fancy is my last Night Dragon daughter. She is a fine big mare standing 15-1 hands, stick and level. She is a neat, clean, dry, mare of excellent riding type, with plenty of Arabian type and quality. She has a nice head with big, soft dark eyes, a lovely light, clean neck, lightly arched, with a clean throat and excellent attachment of head to neck, and the neck coming high out of her shoulders, as is ideal. Her withers are excellent. She has the strong loins and smooth coupling of the Aurab line. Her trot is superb. Her disposition is absolutely the best. She is sweet, kind, and always easy to handle.

Night Fancy has often been a favorite of visitors who have seen my horses. She is also one of my own favorites.

Her second-dam was Farlanes Fancy, one of the most beautiful Arabian mares I have ever seen - and beautifully bred, too; her Crabbet/American pedigree included the outstanding U.S. Remount stallion Jedran among the roster of outstanding individuals. Farlane, the sire of Farlanes Fancy, was one of the most beautiful Arabian stallions I have ever seen. I arranged to buy the aging Farlanes Fancy and got her from Canada to California, but she died (of lung cancer!) before I got a live foal from her. I was heartbroken so tried to find a daughter I might be able to buy to breed to Night Dragon. I found Shafarla in a sort of Canadian back yard situation and did something a breeder should never do - bought her sight unseen from her very nice owner who understood my loss of her dam and said he thought I would like Shafarla. I held my breath until Shafarla stepped off the van in California. She was everything I had hoped - and others seeing her get off the van heartily agreed that this was a mare of very real quality. Her owner had been right - I liked her - very much, indeed. I was able to breed Shafarla to Night Dragon and the excellent Night Fancy is the result. I feel Night Fancy is worth all this effort I made to get her on the ground.

Night Fancy is the dam of the 2006 Filly by Bka Rashiq, Fancy Crystal.
