This filly is, indeed, a flash of sunlight, not only in her beautiful color, but also in her quality. She has been beautiful just about from her moment of birth.

Her sire, Liberty Valance, is a topline grandson of Sandy Warren’s renowned Aurab son, Aulrab, who has had sons go to both Australia and South Africa. Liberty Vallance, who is owned by Angela Lewis and Gwen Davies, of Susanville and Watsonville, California, is a son of Our Lady Liberty, a mare I bred and sold. She was sired by Sultan Mahtab, who also got Mescca Sultana, who was not only one of my most valuable foundation mares, but also a mare who figured rather importantly in the breeding program of the Van Gilder Ranch in Oregon (she produced for them Mackies Emerald, who won some $61,000 on the track). Our Lady Liberty was out of my magnificent big Zadir daughter, Benzadreen, whose blood I treasure in my herd - and whose picture and pedigree may be found in the reference section of this web site.

Flash of Sunlight’s dam, Aur-Miss Vixen, is one of my current broodmares; information about her, including pedigree and photos, can be found on this web site in the inventory of mares listing. Vixen is a particularly lovely mare, sometimes almost airily ethereal in her beauty and type, but she is also a particularly well conformed and well balanced mare. She is often a favorite of those who see her.

In appearance, Flash of Sunlight seems most to embody combined traits of her dam and her paternal great-granddam, Benzadreen; certainly her pedigree came together extremely well for Flash of Sunlight. She has a nice head, a particularly lovely long, light, and well shaped arched neck that comes out of her shoulders beautifully well. She has plenty of Arabian type and style, as well as good size. She is athletic and moves well.
