Dream Of Liberty 364055

The extremely beautiful mare Dream of Liberty seems to me, and to many others, to express the best from all her pedigree influences.

When I first saw the exquisitely beautiful, classic, typy and correct Dreamazon, the product of an ideal combination of Skowronek lines, I knew I wanted to use him in my breeding program to try to capture this type. In 1985 I sent my surefire producing mare Mescca Sultana to him. She, too, was very classic and typy, and the bottom half of her pedigree had somewhat similar Skowronek components to those in Dreamazon’s pedigree. Her sire, however, was mostly an outcross to other lines. Mescca Sultana’s good trotting sire, Sultan Mahtab, with his excellent bones, joints, and feet, was a maternal half-brother to Aurab. He was sired by the outstanding *Witez II son Yatez, whose dam was by the Skowronek son *Raseyn.

Dreamazon was a very small horse and Mescca Sultana was not the biggest Arabian mare I owned. Their daughter, Dream of Liberty, is 14-2 1/2 hands, a typically average size for an Arabian mare.

From both of her parents Dream of Liberty inherited her exquisitely beautiful Arabian head; it shows components from both, including the Arabian jibbah from Mescca Sultana. Dream of Liberty has excellent basic conformation with extreme Arabian type as an overlay. She carries a high, straight, fountain Arabian tail. She has excellent legs, with good bone, joints, and feet. absolutely correct alignment, and ideal proportion. Her trot, which she got from Mescca Sultana, is outstanding. Her disposition is also outstanding. She is easy to handle, seems to understand everything, and wants to cooperate and please. She is very intelligent and uses her lips like fingers; when young this sometimes led to mischief with gate latches, tied ropes, etc. It was amazing how dexterous her lips could be!

In 1998, when Dream of Liberty was 12 years old, Australian friends visited. They wanted to take her back to Australia where they thought they could perhaps show her to Australian Champion Mare at halter. I was willing to lease her, but the huge expenses of shipping her to Australia, and then back again, plus the costs of the necessary quarantine, caused the plan to die. These Australian friends felt that Dream of Liberty was the best and most beautiful Arabian mare they had ever seen.

Unfortunately, Dream of Liberty has had only two foals. I have her only daughter, Star of Liberty, in my breeding program. Dream of Liberty can no longer carry a foal herself, but she could perhaps give foals with the help of egg harvesting, invitro fertilization,and surrogate incubator mares. This is a terribly expensive and iffy procedure and I have not been able to do it. This is sad because Dream of Liberty has much to contribute to the future good of the Arabian breed.
