Wind of Glory 550169

Chestnut Mare foaled April 10, 1996
Bred by Janice M Siders, Diablo, California
Oct, 2008, age 12. Anne Blount photo

Wind of Glory is a strongly built and deep bodied mare with a nice head, excellent shoulders. Her neck comes out of her shoulders well.

Wind of Glory’s dam, Sekinah Glory, was the result of an outside breeding to my stallion Night Dragon. I liked this brilliant trotting, substantial filly so well that I bought her. Later I resold her, with my stallion Wind Catcher, to a buyer in Montana with the agreement that I would get back the first filly that Sekinah Glory had by Wind Catcher. That happened to be the first foal – Wind of Glory. When I saw Wind of Glory the first time, when she came to me as a yearling, I was immediately pleased with her, and remain so.

I bred my mare Mescca Sultana to Joy Pritchard’s Oh Fair Warning, a snaffle bit futurity winner and reining horse champion, because I liked the horse so well, and also wanted the blood of his truly outstanding sire, Zzahar, and of his exquisitely lovely dam, Gazlowa. Zzahar was National Champion in both the U.S. and Canada in working cow and stock horse. The supreme athlete Zzahar was also one of the best and probably the most widely known of the Zadir sons. To me, this is valuable blood. Oh Fair Warning’s dam, Gazlowa, was one of the best daughters of the Kellogg sire Farlowa, a son of the great Abu Farwa and a grandson of the great athlete and sire Farana, and of Gazya, the magnificent Sikin mare who was also an own daughter of the great trotting mare Rabiyat, who also produced Rabiyas, the sire of Abu Farwa. Gazya was also dam of Zadir. Thus it can be seen that Oh Fair Warning was double Gazya, a mare who had her dam’s fabulous trot in full measure.

Clearly, Wind of Glory is bred to be an athlete and to perform.

Since I have a fine 2007 daughter from Wind of Glory (Splash of Glory, by Gulastras Splash), I sold her in December 2009 to Oscar Dieguez in southern California. She had further subsequent owners, and died of colic in the summer of 2013, at age 17.
