Splash of Glory is my only foal from her dam, the wonderful producing Wind of Glory who has previously been on lease to Dee Van Gilder and Kathy Williams, for whom she produced two outstanding daughters (which may be seen on the Van Gilder Arabians website).
Splash of Glory is another outstanding product of her dam. Her sire, Gulastras Splash, is a well known and sought after sire in some endurance circles. I have long liked both him and his stock that I have seen; in other words, he is a good sire, as well as a fine horse. For some years I have wanted to use him in my breeding program. It seemed to me that Wind of Glory would nick well with him, and the opportunity presented itself. The resulting Splash of Glory is all that I wanted and hoped to get - and more. I am extremely pleased with her.
Splash of Glory is a correct, well balanced, and attractive mare with good legs. I believe she was one of the most nimble and agile foals I have ever seen - one of the quickest on her feet ever. Her trot is good. She is now grown to be a mare who likes attention and people.
The pedigree of Splash of Glory is particularly interesting and, for one foaled in 2007, shows, via her sire, remarkably few generations back to some extremely significant stock. On her topline, Splash of Glory is a great-granddaughter of the great sire Gulastra, foaled in 1924. On her standard sized pedigree, the great and impressively influential Crabbet sire Mesaoud, foaled in 1887, still shows, appearing as her topline great-great-great grandsire. (Of course, all the foals sired by Gulastras Splash show this same remarkable generation span, but Splash of Glory is the only one I own.)
The four great-grandsires of Splash of Glory make interesting study: 1924 Gulastra, 1943 Malastra (a grandson of Gulastra), 1983 Oh Fair Warming (a Snaffle Bit Futurity Champion who was sired by Zzahar, an international stock and working cow horse national level champion, sired by Zadir), and 1983 Night Dragon (who was my own magnificent Ben Rabba son, who was also a double grandson of Aurab).
Additionally, Splash of Glory is great-granddaughter of the mare Mescca Sultana, one of my foundation mares who ultimately established herself as a dowager of importance in part of the Arabian racing world; this mare not only obviously passed on running speed, but also she had a totally superb trot and was further as noticeably nimble, agile, and quick on her feet as is Splash of Glory.
The pedigree of Splash of Glory contains great athletic potential, which she clearly has inherited. Her pedigree is also full of high quality individuals of Arabian type and beauty, and on her dam’s side she represents 5 generations (counting her as a generation) of my own breeding.
